Choosing the Right Business Phone System

June 3rd 2010

Choosing and setting up your home phone system couldn’t be easier. Unfortunately, doing the same for your business phone system is an order of magnitude more complex. Certainly, the various technologies and array of vendors can be overwhelming. To the positive, recent advancements in technology that will complicate your buying decision mean that you’ll probably be spending a lot less than even a decade ago. Your answers to these six questions will help clarify your final decision.

Six Questions to Start Your Decision-Making Process

1. How many stations do you need?
2. Do you anticipate adding stations in the next few years, and if so, how many?
3. Will you need remote capabilities for a distributed workforce? In other words, will you need to route calls off-site?
4. Is a VoIP system a good fit for your needs? Do you already have the infrastructure to support it?
5. Do you need conferencing?
6. Do you need a system that will integrate with your current system?

These are just a starting point, but you should at least know these answers before you start shopping or talking to vendors. In the next post, we’ll examine some of these questions in greater detail.
