Setting the Date and Time on Your Business Phone System

March 15th 2010

I don’t know about anyone else, but I can’t believe the time to spring forward has come so quickly! One  bummer about longer days is the initial loss of one hour of sleep. The other bummer…we’ve been getting a lot of phone calls reporting their business phone system has not programmed the change automatically. Is this the case for you? If so, let me explain how to change the time from your Inter-Tel or Mitel admin phone.

If you have an Inter-Tel Model 8560 (6 line display), here’s what to do:

  • While on Hook press the ADMIN FEATURES button on the left side of your LCD display screen, then press the >> arrow at the bottom of the screen.
  • Press the SET DATE AND TIME option on the left hand side.
  • Your display will show the current date, if you do not need to change the date, press # or ACCEPT to skip to the Time XX:XX Prompt.
  • Use the keypad keys to enter the time in hours and minutes (for example, enter 0900 for 9:00.) If you entered the time incorrectly, the display shows INVALID TIME, and you are prompted to enter a new time.
  • If the system is set for 12-hour display format, the display shows SELECT AM OR PM (AM=1 PM=2). Press 1 for AM or press 2 for PM. The display shows SYSTEM DATE AND TIME UPDATED.

If you have an Inter-Tel Model 8520 (2 line display), here’s what to do:

  • While on Hook, enter Set Date/Time feature code (infinity button) + (9800) Your displaywill show the current date, if you do not need to change the date, press # orACCEPT to skip to the Time XX:XX Prompt.
The display shows SYSTEM DATE AND DATE UPDATED.

And that’s how it’s done! Any questions? Let us know!
