ShoreTel Steps Up to the Plate for San Francisco Giants
September 7th 2010
As the San Francisco Giants contend with the San Diego Padres for the National League lead in MLB, the CIO of the Giants, Bill Schlough, is making GIANT moves to get ahead in the world of communications. It seems the administration has hit it off with ShoreTel, another great example of ShoreTel’s immersion into the world of telephony. Let me tell you more about the business phone system and VoIP technology “at bat” for the Giants at AT&T Park.
Schlough set off on his journey to reduce telecom expenses for the Giants following the release of the report that named the 30 teams that spent the most on communications. As you probably guessed, the San Francisco team made the list. At this time in 2007, they were using Centrex lines and were prompted to venture into the realm of VoIP technology as an alternative. Nortel, Avaya and Cisco all competed for the contract but it was ShoreTel who stepped up to the plate. According to Jim Duffy in “ShoreTel grows up, gets San Francisco Giants”, nearly two years later not a single phone is broken or has problems of any kind.
The VoIP system has been integrated with the Giant’s CRM system too. For instance, when a season ticket holder calls, the conversation is tracked with other CRM data such as which games the person attended. As you can imagine, this is valuable information for such a large organization attempting to zero in on its market and most valuable customers. The beauty about this customization is that it can track your what you need tracked as well.
The combination of VoIP technology and a more cost efficient phone system has made AT&T park a happy customer. ShoreTel certainly gains even more credibility with clients like this. Not everyone is going to be as large of an organization, but it certainly assures a customer that ShoreTel hardware and software is capable of handling whatever needs possible.
What are your company needs? Are you at all curious to see how they fit into the VoIP technology ShoreTel has to offer?
